About TAILONG

TAILONG started in 2017 with one black tank. The man who asked for it wore a suit five days a week and spent the working day tucking his shirt back in. He did not want a diet, a belt or a gadget. He wanted one flat layer that stayed put from the morning meeting to the drive home.

That is still the whole brief. Everything in this range is a layer you put on first and forget, and nothing in it is meant to be seen. We work out of a small office in Charlotte, which is not an accident: the Carolinas have been knitting cloth for a long time, and people who understand circular knitting are easier to find here than in most places.

The range splits four ways. Tanks and short-sleeve shirts hold the chest and the stomach and hide under a shirt. Bodysuits carry the same panels from the shoulder to the thigh, so nothing rides up when you sit. Shaping shorts and briefs work on the waistband, where a belt draws a line. Waist bands do one job only, and they do it over a shirt or under one, depending on how much hold you want that day.

Four colours, not twelve. Black goes under dark shirts. White goes under white shirts and, being honest about it, shows less than most men expect under a pale blue one. Beige is the one that actually disappears under a thin white poplin, and it is the colour men come back for once they have tried white and seen the outline. Grey sits between the two for polo shirts and knitwear. Every TAILONG line comes in that same four, so the second piece you buy matches the first one you own.

We wear a new fit ourselves for a month before it goes on sale, and the size chart has not moved since 2017. That second part matters more than it sounds. A man who took an L three years ago should be able to order an L today without measuring again, and brands that quietly resize their charts are the reason most people distrust sizing on the internet.

What TAILONG will not tell you is that compression treats anything. It does not. A doubled panel flattens the look of a chest while you wear it and stops flattening it the moment you take it off. A waist band does not reduce fat, and a sweat band does not either, whatever the heat under it feels like. If a piece here changes something permanently, we have not found it, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to sell a tank for nineteen dollars.

Prices on these pages come from the retail partner and we refresh them on a schedule. One page carries the date of the last run, and that date covers the whole range. Ratings and counts are the ones buyers left. We publish the low ones too, because a shelf of nothing but fives reads as an advertisement and tells you nothing about which size to take.
